The Black Keys tease “epic,” “collaborative” new album: “[It’s] our best record for sure”
The Black Keys have released two albums over the past two years, and they won’t be slowing down anytime soon.
Speaking with NME, drummer Patrick Carney shares that he and frontman Dan Auerbach “just kept working” on new tunes after finishing 2022’s Dropout Boogie, and have been in the studio with Beck.
“We started writing with him and that was the beginning of what we’re finishing now, an epic album that’s our best record for sure,” Carney says. “It won’t be out until next year though.”
Carney adds that the upcoming record is “clearly a collaborative thing.”
“We just had people come through the studio and throw a little bit of special sauce at each song,” he explains. “There are just so many different collaborations but there’s a thread through it with Dan and I filtering everything. It just feels really f****** amazing.”
While you wait for that, a new Black Keys song called “No Lovin'” will appear on the upcoming blues compilation Tell Everybody!, due out August 11.
