In returning with a new song, My Chemical Romance is also returning to the Billboard charts.

The track, titled “The Foundations of Decay,” has made its debut on several airplay rankings, including bowing at #31 on the Rock & Alternative Airplay tally.

The bow is especially noteworthy since “The Foundations of Decay” didn’t get the benefit of a full Billboard airplay tracking week — its debut on Rock & Alternative Airplay reflects radio impressions from when the track made its surprise premiere at 6 p.m. ET last Thursday to last Sunday.

In terms of downloads, “The Foundations of Decay” starts at #16 on the Rock Digital Song Sales chart and #48 on the all-genre Digital Song Sales tally. The download total is solely made up of sales from its release day, as Billboard‘s sales tracking week ends Thursday night.

“The Foundations of Decay” is the first MCR song to be released in eight years and the first since they announced their reunion in 2019. The group’s much-anticipated reunion tour, which has been delayed two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, finally launched this week in the U.K. The U.S. leg will begin in August.
